Glenn is of Korean descent, and is one of the first survivers that formed and established the camp outside of Atlanta. Glen played a vital role for the camp as he went in and out of Atlanta by himself to gather supplies for the group. His fast and small apearance aswell as his knowledge of the geography of the area made him very proficient at the task.
He knowingly puts himself in danger for the good of the group and is a skilled tactition, as Rick would not go back into the city without Glenn. Glen saved Rick grimes from being trapped by walkers in a tank. Rick repayed Glenn by rescuing him from being kidnapped by a group of Vato's who turned out to be a nursing home employees trying to do some good.
Glenn wasn't a known drinker and had the worst hangover of his life staying with the other survivers at the CDC. He made everyone promise to never let him drink again.
Before the epidemic, Glenn was a pizza delivery boy in massive debt. He had several payments for his car and his apartment burdening him, as well as a severed relationship with his parents. Everything changed for Glenn as his financial troubles ceased to matter once the dead started walking.
